[Letter] 1877 Jan. 29, Atlanta, Ga. to [John A. Broadus] / A.T. Spalding. 1877.

"We have had a blessed day this Lord's day. The congregation, long put out by snow and slush and rain, poured out today and filled our building morning and night. At the a.m. service, Gov. Brown called for $600 to bring up arrearages, & obtained nearly $700." In exchange for this effort for the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Spalding says "Our working band, which has done much for the general poor of the city, is almost out of funds. After prayer, & in prayer, we are calling for you to come over and help us. ... Do come! Don't refuse us. It will make it easy for your future calls upon us."
